Sylvia F. Gonzalez

Sylvia Gonzalez, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in Laredo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio C. Gonzalez; her daughter, Sylvia Sermons; her son, Martin Gonzalez; her parents, Guadalupe Fernandez and Estefana Arenal Fernandez; her sister, Olga Fernandez; her brother, Antonio Fernandez; and her nephew, Roberto Sermons.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Gerardo A. Gonzalez and Cynthia Ledesma (Juan).

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jesus, Cantu, Juan Ledesma (Sue Ellen), Alejandro Ledesma, Jennifer Ledesma, and Marco Ledesma; her great-grandchildren, Derek Ledesma, Holly Ledesma, Summer Ledesma, Ezra Ledesma, Renesmee Frausto, and Alina Rose Frausto; her sister-in-law, Rachel Fernandez; and her beloved four-legged companion, Fluffy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services

The family will be receiving condolences on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, 310 W. Hillside Rd., Laredo, Texas 78041. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a prayer service at 10:00 a.m. A procession will depart the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. to the Laredo City Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held. Pallbearers will be: Juan Ledesma, Juan Ledesma Jr., Alejandro Ledesma, Marco Ledesma, Jesus Cantu & Victor Ledesma. 

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Carlos Casas, Dr. Carlos Cigarroa, Alfa Home Health, Laredo Hospice, and all of their wonderful staff for the loving care, kindness, and compassion shown to Sylvia. Your patience, dedication, and genuine concern for her comfort and well-being meant more to our family than words can express. We will always be grateful for the love and care you provided during her final days.
