Sylvia Angelica Martinez

Sylvia Angelica Martinez, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished educator, and dear friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Severiano Valdez and Sara Granger.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her husband of 24 years, Victor A. Martinez; her son, Ruperto Alexis Martinez (Valerie); her daughter, Victoria Martinez; her beloved grandchildren, Lilith Martinez, Odin Martinez, Isaiah Camacho, Callista Camacho, and Lindsey Camacho; and her great-grandson, Dylan Angel Gonzalez. She is also survived by her siblings, Sara Alicia Cavazos, Selma Anita Dougherty, Susana Salinas, Severiano Valdez, and Sonia Adriana Madrigal, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Sylvia dedicated 40 years of her life to education as a second-grade teacher at Christopher M. Macdonell Elementary School. She had a true passion for teaching and found joy in shaping young minds, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and families throughout her career. Her kindness, patience, and dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Outside the classroom, Sylvia was an avid Beatles fan and above all, loved her family deeply. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, lovingly known as her "palomitas," Maria Olivia Vasquez and Maria Martinez, for their compassionate care and support.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, 310 W Hillside Rd, Laredo, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories, offer condolences, and celebrate Sylvia's life.

Cremation will take place at a later date.
